Ciprodex and Ear Tubes
If you have a bacterial ear infection, your healthcare provider may prescribe Ciprodex® (ciprofloxacin/dexamethasone). Specifically, this medication is used for treating middle ear infections (known medically acute otitis media) in children who have ear tubes. Ciprodex is approved for use in children as young as six months old.
Ciprodex is also approved for treating outer ear infections (otitis externa) in both adults and children. However, this medication is not approved to treat middle ear infections in older adults. It is only approved to treat middle ear infections in children who have ear tubes.
