Ciprodex Otic Suspension

If you have a certain type of bacterial ear infection, your healthcare provider may recommend Ciprodex® (ciprofloxacin/dexamethasone). This prescription medication only comes in one strength and form -- Ciprodex 0.3%/0.1% otic suspension. It is typically used in the infected ear twice daily for seven days.
Ciprodex is specifically approved for treating middle ear infections (known medically as acute otitis media) in children with ear tubes. It is also used for outer ear infections (known medically as otitis externa, or more commonly "swimmer's ear") in both children and adults.
Ciprodex contains a combination of ciprofloxacin, an antibiotic, and dexamethasone, a corticosteroid medication. It works in two ways -- by killing the bacteria causing the ear infection and by reducing inflammation, redness, and itching.
