Ciprodex Otic

Available by prescription only, Ciprodex® (ciprofloxacin/dexamethasone) is an ear drop used to treat middle ear infections (known medically as acute otitis media) in children with ear tubes. It can also be used to treat outer ear infections (known medically as otitis externa, or more commonly "swimmer's ear") in both children and adults.

As a type of otic (or ear) suspension, Ciprodex is applied to the infected ear twice daily for seven days. The dosage is the same for everyone, regardless of age or the infection being treated. Most people are able to use these ear drops without any problems, but side effects have been known to occur. The most commonly reported reactions include ear pain, discomfort, and itching.
