Ear Infection Ciprodex

If you have been diagnosed with an outer or middle ear infection, Ciprodex® (ciprofloxacin/dexamethasone) may help treat your symptoms. This prescription ear drop is specifically approved to treat middle ear infections (known medically as acute otitis media) in children with ear tubes. It is also prescribed to treat outer ear infections (known medically as otitis externa, or more commonly "swimmer's ear") in both children and adults.

Ciprodex contains a combination of ciprofloxacin, an antibiotic that helps cure the bacterial infection, and dexamethasone, a corticosteroid medication that helps reduce inflammation.

When treating an ear infection, Ciprodex dosing guidelines are the same for everyone, regardless of age or the infection being treated. This standard dosage is four drops applied to the infected ear twice daily for seven days. You may start feeling better before finishing your course of treatment, but it's important to use the drops for the entire seven days; this will help prevent bacterial resistance or a recurrence of your infection.
