Cetraxal Medication Information
Cetraxal® (ciprofloxacin ear drops) is an antibiotic ear drop used to treat an ear infection called otitis externa. This type of infection is often caused by excessive water exposure to the ear, which can happen when people swim a lot. This is the reason why otitis externa is often called "swimmer's ear." The drops are used in the affected ear twice daily, about 12 hours apart, for seven days.
Although the drug is generally well tolerated, it is not suitable for everyone. Before using Cetraxal, make sure your healthcare provider has up-to-date information on your medical history and a list of your current medications. In particular, make sure to let your healthcare provider know if you are allergic to anything, including medicines, foods, or dyes, or if you are pregnant, thinking of becoming pregnant, or breastfeeding.
