Floxin Otic Drops

If you have a certain type of bacterial ear infection, your healthcare provider may recommend Floxin® Otic (ofloxacin otic solution). These ear drops are typically applied to the infected ear once or twice daily for 7 to 14 days.

Floxin Otic is specifically approved for treating acute otitis media (middle ear infections) in children with ear tubes and chronic otitis media in people with tympanic membrane (eardrum) holes. It is also used for outer ear infections (known medically as otitis externa, or more commonly "swimmer's ear").

As a type of antibiotic, these ear drops work by interfering with a certain enzyme that bacteria need in order to multiply. Possible side effects may include ear discomfort, dizziness, and itching in the ear.
