Meclizine hydrochloride (Antivert®, Bonine®, Dramamine® Less Drowsy Formula) is an antihistamine that is commonly used for treating vertigo and preventing or treating motion sickness. It is available both by prescription (for treating both conditions) and over the counter (for motion sickness only). Meclizine products appear to work by blocking histamine receptors and acetylcholine receptors. This medication comes in the form of tablets and chewable tablets and can be taken with or without food.
