Meclizine hydrochloride (

® Less Drowsy Formula) is a medication licensed to treat motion sickness and vertigo. There is only one standard recommended dose for non-prescription meclizine (Bonine, Dramamine Less Drowsy Formula). For the prescription version (Antivert), the dose that your healthcare provider recommends will vary, depending on the specific condition being treated.
Dosing for Non-Prescription Meclizine
The recommended non-prescription meclizine dosage for preventing and treating motion sickness in individuals 12 years old and older is one or two tablets (25 to 50 mg) once daily or as directed by your healthcare provider.
Dosing for Prescription Meclizine
For the treatment of vertigo, the standard prescription meclizine dose is 25 to 100 mg total per day, given as two smaller doses per day. This can be taken as two 50 mg
meclizine tablets, two 25 mg tablets, or two 12.5 mg tablets.
For preventing and treating motion sickness, the standard dosage is 25 to 50 mg, taken one hour before embarkation and repeated every 24 hours if necessary.
